 To
get the most out of your air conditioner, try some of the
following tips:
• If away from home for the day or for
long periods, turn your air conditioner off, or leave it on
a low setting.
• Clean and change your filters regularly,
about once a month, especially during the summer when dust
and allergens circulate.
• Maximize the energy efficiency of
your home during both the summer and winter months by making
sure windows and doors are closed properly.
• Seal off the edges of the window where
the air conditioner rests to make sure that the cool air from
the air conditioner doesn't escape right out the window.
• Have the air ducts professionally
cleaned every few years.
• Ensure adequate airflow around the
entire unit by keeping plants and other things at least one
foot away.
• Clean the outside compressor by spraying
with water (using a hose).
• Vacuum air vents regularly.
• During the winter, keep the compressor
covered and remove window air conditioners.
